Has anyone converted standard marines to primaris models with any success? Such as taking your already finished models and converting them like sgts and captains hqs etc.. I realize it could be as simple as replacing a helmet.. what if you want to keep a breast plate or shoulder pad what kind of limitations would you face, or did face ?

Secondly how do Terminators look next to Primaris marines, and should one attempt a true-scale of the terminators or wait for newer models to come down the line or just buy the hero line for crazy amounts of money on ebay.

I'm asking because I'm interested in true scale vehicles that I've seen here on Dakka and would love to play a true scale version of 4th Edition. Mostly to keep my stuff relevant without tossing entire armies as regular marines become obsolete. We all know it's coming and the idea of this project true scale vehicles next to primaris/ true scale conversions seems like a challenge.

I have been wanting to convert my Imperial fists into howling griffins or black templar

Thanks.

Hi Allfather, yeah I've converted my Deathwatch vets using Primaris legs. Afraid this is before psinting though. I'd recommend buying some 'dark imperium' primaris off ebay as they're cheaper and simpler to use. Cut the model along the line of the belt, so that your legs and belt are primaris. The torso and the rest is OG marine. It's not a straight fit but it's pretty easy, and brings marines up a notch - not quite as tall as primaris but not far behind.

Termis suffer, imo, from standing next to primaris. I actually used Custodes Wardens for my termi squad, replacing shoulders, weapons, heads. pretty baroque so might not be to your taste, but the right scale.

Hope this helps a bit.
