Just a quick thank you for stopping some of the weirder runaway silliness in YMDC lately, when threads have boarded the Crazy Train. The attempt at making the forum a useful thing for those seeking actual answers, and a place for genuine discussion is appreciated.

I totally agree with you. I'm glad YMDC has calmed down from the fad of "Oh look at this rules exploit I found! Even though no-one would ever play it this way I'm technically correct so I'm going to go swing my dick around for a bit".
It's still not perfect though, the attitudes of some users are still causing reasonable rule queries desending into nonsense.
Keep up the good work mods!

Yes, I too love it when a moderator loses an argument and then locks the thread because they can't respond any other way.

I think the sound you're hearing is pretty much the full community agreeing with the moderators here.
We all agree you are reasonably clever, but also not particularly helpful. You aren't "winning argument," you're insisting on a priori assumptions that aren't commonly held. You can make any number of airtight arguments if you control all of your assumptions. The problem is that your assumption that strict textualism is the proper way to read 40k rules is neither commonly held, nor encouraged even by the writers of the rules. You are, in fact, doing it wrong, claiming you're doing it correctly, and then claiming victory.

That's the issue here, some moderators are trying to "win" arguments, its all a big argument where you never admit to being wrong. No reasoning or true understanding of what they are talking about.

Let's be honest-
I think the mods do okay most of the time, and most of them are pretty good people based on my conversations with them. Also I can't imagine trying to stomp out the fires on this page when certain 'hot button topics' come up and some well-known bad actors get involved and try to get the thread closed by making it volatile without specifically breaking the rules.
But I think 'mods lock threads with arguments' is the least of any complaints one could make.
And I'll be very polite if any of them would like to speak with me about it privately, because I ain't gonna put this kind of thing out in the open like that.

If you have specific concerns, you can PM any of the mods about them.

If you're so unhappy with the mods why not try a different site?

Instead of venting publicly to no purpose except saying stuff that eventually gets you banned, you might consult with the site owners privately on the issues you have to affect change.
Or you can continue to hate post so that you can eventually quit in a huff. Your call.

Do you find that attaching ludicrously unsupportable accusations to your posts generally works for you?
