I haven't seen this posted here yet, so I thought I would to spread the news to those who might be interested. Pulp Alley is currently kickstarting a second edition rulebook, with only a few days left on the clock at the time of this writing.

I'm not affiliated with the creator, but I've owned the first edition rules for a while and have recently tried them out. I was very impressed - enough to back the new edition! I've also seen forum posts and AARs using the pulp-action system for everything from Indiana Jones/pulp-serial games, Chicago gangsters, Conan, GI Joe, and even 40K Inquisitorial investigations! It's a neat little system, and the creator is very involved with the community, especially at the pulpalley.com and Lead Adventure forums.

Pulp Alley is fantastic, one of my favorite indy games. Rules work great for any number of settings, not just pulp. I have some friends that use it straight out of the book to play Star Wars skirmish games. It's a narrative game, not a competative game, so you need to play it with more of an RPG mindset

2nd ed is just the 1st ed with some of the additional expansions built-in and a few small changes. You can download the quickstart rules from wargamevault, which are the complete basic rules without a couple advanced rules and without the character creation (which is the best part of the game)

A guy in our group was interested in Pulp Alley so he bought three of us PDF copies of the 1st edition. For months I put off even looking at them because I thought they were 1930s specific.

They aren't! You can play just about any time period or setting with these rules because the in-game effects are generalized mechanics. A burst could be anything from a plasma gun shot to a sorcerer's fireball spell. We're adapting Necromunda gangs to use 'em for a summer campaign.

Highly recommend this rule set for just about any skirmish gaming.

The Solo mode is actually pretty fun, too. I tried out the Solo deck out for the first time about two weeks ago. It inspired me to order the vehicle & gear book so I have something to play at home once I get my 7TV Apocalypse kickstarter stuff painted.
