I don't understand the necessity to post 6 times in the forums before being allowed to share you fluff/fiction to the forums. Pretty dissapointing, well. here it is.
Hey everyone, i created a chapter for the Ultima Founding and i would like to know your thoughts and criticisms as i don't know if some of this conflicts with canon, though it will conflict with the codex astartes... a little. I spent like 8 hours creating and double checking with online sources but you never know! Also, all names are from famous counter reformation Catholics or influential/popular Puritans/Presbyterians. You can ask me if you want to know the true names, but some are pretty thickly laid on. Also the actually geneseed/primarch is pretty thickly insinuated, if its too easy, let me know. This is a third draft of my ideas. also, any ideas on chapter symbol and other additions please let me know!
Name: Puritan Chapter (Rhadanians call them the "Order of Knights of the Temple of Saint Shirley of the Rhadanion System")
Geneseed: unknown, possibly Imperial Fists, Dark Angels
Homeworld: Rhadan
Base: Purite, Moon
FIRST PACTUM:
- The God Emperor is truth, and divine, this is self-evident.
- The Ecclesiarchy do not propose the true faith, this is self-evident.
- The God Emperor is the first Astartes and Father to all Astartes, this is self-evident.
- To establish the God-Emperor's true word, we require the free inquiry to discovering
and establishing the true faith of the God-Emperor, this is necessary.
SECOND PACTUM
- Our Citadel is Purite, it is our temple, our refuge, our forge, and our gift to the God-Emperor, this is our Piety.
- Our charge until death is the defense of the Rhadanion System and her people, this is our Humility.
- Our duty is the discovery of the God-Emperor's true word, this is our Diligence.
- We bring swift death to the enemies of the God-Emperor, this is our Kindness.
- Our losses make us stronger, and our faith harder, this is our Patience.
- We suffer not the temptations of the Heretical, and the Xenos, this is our Chastity.

BACKGROUND:
The Puritan Chapter of the Space Marines were created during the Ultima Founding for the defense of Mankind against the 13th Black Crusade. This chapter, unlike other chapters made no attempt to contact their gene-seed brethren. Aboard their Chapter Barque (comically dubbed the "Liberal Dominator" by Captain Ronaldus Reagus of the Third Battle Company) officially, and un-originally named, "The Purifier" by Lieutenant Charles Borromeus charted their course towards The Great Rift to aid their beleaguered brothers. Through interactions with Imperial worlds on their course to the front they came across the Adeptas Ministorum and became enthralled with their rapturous speeches of the Emperor's new creations to deliver them from the heretics. Taking these speeches whole-heartededly the Ecclesiarchy found themselves a chapter of Astartes loyal to the last word of the orthodox teachings found in the core Imperial worlds, after all, it were the teachings closest to the God-Emperor of Mankind himself. However, some within the chapter say otherwise, and that their Chapter Master Thomas Aquinius through his own study and meditations found different answers in his faith. Paying no heed to the coordinated efforts of Guilliman the proud and pious Puritans sought out the heretics wherever at their strongest on their own direction.
In the defense of an already determined doomed world, Mortos, between Cadia and Fenris, the Puritans raged battle in the system and tried to deploy drop pods onto the planet surface. Instead, they found most of their ground forces annihilated in orbit by traitorous cultists, a trap set by the Alpha Legion. Their Chapter Barque, and almost the entire chapter destroyed by the Word Bearers, Alpha Legion & Human Cultists. While one of many fights against the arrogant to the Word Bearers, this cemented the Puritans hatred and greatest rival, who roared in combat the falseness of the God-Emperor. Barely escaping with a tenth of their fleet, the loss of their Chapter Master Aquinius, 4/5 of their brothers, 7/10 of their company captains and Chapter Barque, the Puritans were considered, if at all, a doomed chapter and an unimpressive showing of the new Primaris Astartes.
The surviving captains were Captain Ignatius Loyolas of the First Company, Captain Ronaldus Reagus of the Third Company, and Captain Neilor "Strongarm" of the Fourth Company. Other leaders were First Chaplain Grovius Cleavus, Master of the Forge Abrahus Linconion, and a couple of Lieutenants and Sergeants. What they talked about in their long limp to the inner systems which they would later call, the "Last Shame" and the "First Conventus Puritan" is locked away in the chapter's databases. What is clear is that the one who should have succeeded, Captain Ignatius Loyolus, was instead commanded by the newly styled Grand Presbyter Grovius Cleavus. In-fact, the entire chapter had reorganized with new titles and organization. Captains were now Presbyters and the Reclusium and Chapter's line of organization were completely blurred from outside perception. What is known is that when in comms range to the High Lords of Terra for replenishment of their numbers they were denied. Some believe it was the chapter's poor showing, some believe it was their insubordination towards Guilliman, others however, whisper it was the machinations of the Ecclesiarch himself who heard of their new interpretation of the faith, and angry at losing a valuable puppet sought their dissolution.
The Ecclesiarch would not be wrong however, It seems to a majority of Puritans the reason for their failure was their misplaced faith, a faith fabricated by humans who did not understand nor could their God-Emperor, a God-Emperor, they propose, is more astartes than man, and an God-Emperor, who created the Puritans in this new age of war, to discover the true word.
Of the remaining Astartes three companies were re-organized. The First, & Second Presbytery Companies under the command of the old Reclusiam now called Presbytorion who will act as battle companies, and the First Salvatery Company under the command of the old Apothecarion now called Salvaterion who will act as reserves with a greater emphasis placed on the protection and procurement of gene seeds from fallen brothers so the devastating losses on Mortos will never bring the chapter so close to the brink of dissolution. The chapter's Astartes in its entirety call themselves the Conventus Puritan whose leaders are elected into the Presbyterion and make up the council or chapter command, the Synodion.
The Synodion is the council made of elected and titular Presbyterys and ruled by the Grand Presbytery. Each Presbytery, usually numbering a company is an elected position by members under a Presbytery. Salvaterys are the same as Presbyterys on organization and rank. While not all members have to go through the rigorous Chaplain training of the Presbyterion, to become anything higher than lieutenant within the chapter requires so. Those of rank Salvatery, despite their objective, are not always Apothecarys but always Chaplains who demonstrate the required skills to temper their zeal in the heat of battle to focus on preserving the gene-seed required to replenish their numbers.
In times of great Chapter crisis and contention the Synodion may instead resort to a vote of all members above rank of recruit to vote on the issue. This assembly and vote is called the Conventus Puritan and the decision is binding. Any dissension to the strictly outlined codes in the new Pactum, or agreement, after the vote is punished by immediate death. This is not to say however, that secretly, the dissenters organize. For votes are done publicly in front of the entire Chapter. Currently, there has only been two Conventus Puritans. The first decided the chapters organization, the second re-established the chapters will.
Limping southward after the fall of Mortos and upon hearing the news they have been deemed unworthy of replenishment the Puritans became desperate. The frontier worlds were already garrisoned by other chapters of the Ultima founding who were not so quick to rush into the tear, and thus their worlds would deny the Puritans the right to recruit. However, as they approached further south, about south-west of Armageddon they found the distress calls of the Rhadanion System. The systems governor, Diego of Rhadan had recently been raided by the Dark Eldar Kabal of the Ebony Sun and the Wych Cult of a Thousand Pains. Their tithe to the defense of Cadia left their defense forces stretched. It was clear to the Synodion Puritan that this world was rich, manpower plentiful, and the reason for their pathetic defense was not their inability but their historical safety from danger. Governor Diego was a calculating man, how else would his family come to rule one of the fasted growing worlds north of Terra. Instead of capitulating to the demands of the Puritans Diego made a counter offer. The Lords of Rhadan will fund and allow the Puritans to recruit from their 2 populated worlds in the Rhadanion system, as well as establish a citadel on a moon near the outer system, and in return the chapter pledges themselves the protectors of the system and its surrounding vicinity.
The Astartes were outraged by this humiliation. They were a crusader chapter, tasked with taking the fury of the God-Emperor to the enemies gates and further more, not idle by protecting human cargo coming in and out of the system. The wording too were humiliating, they would not share the same privileges as most Astartes Chapters. They would be servants to the world, instead of the world servants to it. While the first Conventus Puritan established their new distrust of the teachings of the Ecclesiarchy it, by intentions of senior counter-reformers, allowed the discussion of faith to allow, "the free inquiry to discovering and establishing the true faith of the God-Emperor." This allowed dissenters of the first Conventus Puritan to voice their displeasure tactfully with this offer, they should instead forge ties with the Eecclesiarchy once more and plead to the Ecclesiarch to replenish and aid their chapter. "We do not need to severe ties with the Ecclesiarchy and provoke the ire of his holy majesty when we could instead, for now, work within his holy bosom and reform the faith to the God-Emperor's true intentions from within." - Presbyter Bartholomew Lascassius was recorded saying. Unfortunately, the popular opinion, first against Lord Diego's offer turned fiery against the counter offer proposed by the counter reformers. The reformist Presbyters pushed in that moment to have the Conventus Puritan vote and the offer was accepted. Thus, the Second Conventus Puritan was established.
