Hi,

I'm currently painting a chimera and have a question. What is this structure on the model:


Is this some kind of exhaust where you would assumme some smoke and soot coming out (so that you would paint it darker)? An airvent?

Could be. It's not rear engined as that's where the crew hatch is. I'd give it a dusting of soot powder.

Sand drains, a la the valentine and Matilda tanks of WW2, which a lot of imperial aesthetics are based. Idea is giving any dirt or sand caught in the treads that falls into the box the treads are supported on somewhere to go instead of being stuck and grinding parts up. Kinda weirdly placed, but what else is new for a 40k tank?
