Hello all

I am going to be participating in a 500 pt tournament soon and would like some advice/critiques if anyone has any to give.

The list I have come up with is below:

Patrol Detachment 499pts
Hive Fleet Kraken

Tyranid Prime - Deathspitter/Scything Talons - Chameleonic Mutation, Warlord Trait 1 Step Ahead 75pts
Neurothrope - The Horror 90pts

Tyranid Warriors - 2x Deathspitter/Scything Talons, 1x Venom Cannon/Scything Talons 80pts
Ripper Swarm 33pts

Carnifex - 2xMonstrous Scything Talons/Bone Mace/Spore Cysts/Toxin Sacs/Tusks 106pts
Carnifex - 2x Devourers with Brain Leach Worms/Spore Cysts/Enhanced Senses 115pts

Basically I will have my melee carnifex charge in and take out whatever is biggest, my shooting carnifex to thin out the hordes, my warriors to run around and try to take objectives while shooting at range, my rippers deep striking on an objective and my Neurothrope to float around casting the Horror onto anything that I want to get rid of and smiting whatever is closest.

I will be facing Marines, Chaos Marines, Elder and Necrons for sure.

Is this a good strategy/anyone have anything better?

Do you have anything that can screen you against nasty units?
Do you need to cover a lot of ground for objectives?

I get what you mean - if I don't have turn 1 then everything would get get shot and I won't be able to get any objectives.

I have tweaked my list and come up with the below:

We do almost exclusively 500p point battles where we play. I can't say how it would play out for sure but...

Your force does have a lot of resilience but I feel like you don't have enough shooting to compete with shooty forces like Astra or enough models to melee whittle a large army.

Either way it looks fun to play against. Double Carnifex will be a beast to take down I at 500pts.
