Hello Dakka Dakka, it’s great to be back. My real name is Jess and I am currently speaking via proxy from prison.
A few weeks ago, I asked my mom to see if my Dakka Dakka account still functioned, since it’s been roughly four years since I became incarcerated (and obviously had no internet access). When my mom (AKA my proxy) informed me that my account did still in fact function, I experienced a profound wave of emotions. For the first time in a while I felt connected to my old life, the world, and the outside wargaming community. It is because of these emotions that I felt compelled to say hi to the outside gaming community.
Believe it or not, there is in fact a big table-top community behind bars. Throughout prisons, there are swaths of gaming cliques interspersed through various facilities that play all kinds of games – from Dungeons and Dragons, to Starfinder, to Magik the Gathering.
When I arrived at prison, however, I was disheartened to learn that my favorite game, Warhammer 40,000, could not be played due to table sizes and the fact the Games Workshop is not an “approved” model vendor. In other words, while we could get all the books and codexes we wanted, we could not get the models. Even if we did, the only way to play would be on 3x3 tables.
Thus, for the last few years we could only really experience the grim darkness of the 41st Millenia through
RPGs, such as Fantasy Flight’s Black Crusade.
Until recently that is.
While writing the script for a Wrath and Glory campaign, I envisioned a big battle for the prologue between the Sons of Horus and the Raven Guard. I began to “macro-ize” the
RPGs unit stats in effort to streamline hundreds of units fighting against each other. After a few days of brainstorming I came up with a simple, but obvious, solution: Why not just play
40K at a smaller scale?
It took about eight of us bringing our heads together to develop a standardized to-scale system. We settled on quarter inch and soon most of the gamers became infatuated with building their own stuff.
Soon, the Wrath of Glory campaign was basically forgotten and, in its place, a community of wargamers sprang up.
Since June, we’ve had a 500 pt tournament with eight competitors (the tournament came down to Alpha Legion versus Adeptus Custodes in the championship with the Hydra claiming the title) and I have also started a narrative campaign featuring Cadians, Deathwatch, and Orks.
From all of us here behind bars, we say hello. If you’re interested in reading more about what it’s like inside prison, please visit my blog at

I look forward to participating in such an awesome community once again. In 8 months, I ought to be out and building my Drukhari! Thanks guys!
P.S.: A lot of my buddies in here don’t have the connection to reach out to get information about the models or the game mechanics. If possible, if you’re reading this could you please reply to this post if you have the dimensions of the following models or images:
Matt W. is wondering if someone could post pictures of different angles/views along with dimensions of the following: Canoptek Tomb Stalker; Canoptek Acanthrites; Canoptek Tomb Sentinel; Night Shroud; Sentry Pylon; Tesseract Ark; Gauss Pylon; Seraptek Heavy Construct; Doomsday Arc; Ghost Arc; Canoptek Spider; Doom Sythe; Catacomb Command Barge; Annihilation Bard; Trancendent C’tan.
