My friend is pushing the Gutrot Spume nautical Cthulhu vibes in the Maggotkin and is struggling to find some stuff to add to his bases.
Was wandering if you guys had any suggestions? Something that could give the effect of seaweed or tentacles, anything to help give a deep ocean creepy vibe.

Thanks in advance

Base wise simple sea bases can be created by making rocks, painting them up with green slime on the top, and using water effects or resin to create rock pools. You can create water rotten wood by painting it dark brown and black and giving it a green water line. Metal parts should be excessively rusted and streaky. There's tons of ways to suggest a coastal theme.

Most nurgle models come with tentacles. You could green stuff little suckers on them to make them more octopussy.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You could also use barrels, model ship chain or other model ship parts on the bases or the models themselves. Good source material to check out would be the crew of the flying dutchman from pirates of the Caribbean.

Freebooters Fate do a nice little accessories blister that would suit for an extra little pop of crabby detail....

Gutrot Spume himself was the subject of an amazing Golden Demon piece from a few years ago by David Soper:

Spoiler:

...A wealth of good ideas on this base. Old, crusty ship parts make a really good addition to this theme, rusty anchors, old coils of rope, old ship's wheels etc.

I use pieces of sheet moss as seaweed for my beach-themed basing. Here's an example:

Ah thanks for the replies!

@queen_annes_revenge, the planks and things sound like a sweet idea, along with bits of barrel and stuff.

@Alex Kolodotschko, that stuff gave some ideas for dead fish lying around which could be cool.

@shmvo, it was that model funnily enough that gave my friend the idea of his army having a similar theme.

And @catbarf, where did you get the sheet moss from? That looks exactly like the ki d of seaweed type stuff we’re looking for.

It's sold at pet stores for use in terrariums, and I occasionally see it at craft stores. This is the kind of thing you'd want.
