So I'm fine with ynnari getting their much needed nerf. However, their current rules actively make it more difficult to play an aeldari family reunion than simply playing a non-ynnari version of the same list does (due to the character tax and not being allowed to include named characters in ynnari detachments). If I want to have Lelith, canonical buddy to Yvraine, show up in a list that contains ynnari craftworlders, harlies, and drukhari, for instance, I'd need 4 detachments (one per flavor of ynnari, and one for Lelith's and her non-ynnari drukhari).
So, uh, given that Ynnari aren't really top tier at the moment, could we just like, let ynnari detachments feature any flavor of ynnari? So in effect, this would look like:
* You have to take one of the named ynnari characters in the detachment. Doing so lets you make it a "ynnari detachment."
* Ynnari detachments can include any models with the <AELDARI> keyword (even named characters) so long as they aren't mandrakes or coven units.
* Psykers in Ynnari detachments MUST use ynnari psychic powers instead of their own.
* Units in a Ynnari detachment can't benefit from craftworld/drukhari/harlequin stratagems or other rules.
* Units in a Ynnari detachment all swap their chapter-level keyword (craftworld, kabal, etc.) for the <REBORN> keyword.
* Units in a Ynnari detachment gain the Strength From Death rule (basically the Ynnari chapter tactic). Maybe named characters are exempt form this since most named characters haven't gone full ynnari in the fluff.
* And then include a rule to keep dark reapers and fire dragons from hopping into open topped transports.
You'd still be giving up the generally much better chapter tactics of non-ynnari factions. You'd still be giving up the largely superior craftworld and harlequin psychic powers for the just okay ynnari ones. BUT, you'd be able to field whichever aeldari units you want (including corsairs) in the same detachment making it much easier to field a batallion of harlies, wyches, kabalites, and craftworlders together. It's a pretty crazy amount of unit diversity for a given batallion, but you're giving up most of the higher tier competitive options to get that diversity.
What do you think?
