I know that this topic has probably been discussed before, but I'm not digging through the archives to find the thread. I believe that daemon engines should be allowed to have the daemon faction keyword, not just the secondary keyword, while still retaining the Heretic Astartes and/or DG/TS faction keyword, as well as that for a specific legion or warband. The fluff allows for it, as Lords of Khorne are literally just Bloodthirsters inside a machine, and some actually like being there, treating the engine as a suit of armor. Defilers were at the Khornate daemon onslaught on the Palace, and even the rules as currently somewhat support it, as Nurgle daemon engines can be revived by a GUO's doomsday bell. Both engines and steeds (juggers, discs, etc.) can and do rebel against their masters, requiring immense power, either physical or psychic, to be kept in line. Making this change could give daemon armies much needed firepower, as well make 40k daemon armies have their own futuristic flavor, instead of just being pure Fantasy/AOS monsters that can sometimes appear awkward in a universe of tanks and lasguns.

I'm not against it. In fact, would it be terrible to just reunite daemons and CSM under one book again?

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

That would be an awfully big book, but it could work. Also, there are already a number of daemons put in the CSM codices, and they don't even sync up all that well with most Marines. Daemon engines would be a natural fit to work with regular daemons.

I'm okay with the two armies being separate but, in addition to the necessary consolidation of Death Guard and Thousand Sons back to the proper Legion codex, Daemons need some more fleshing out in terms of units. I think that would do a lot to solve some problems.

BTW, I can't wait to run Double-D-thirsters! Man, just thinking about it gets me Khorney.

Indeed - what sort of bastard would want to use their codex?
