Ok so I got another game in with the Trolls against my buddies Ogres. We met up with a bunch of other players at the local store for a Dad’s day out of the house. We played 2500pts. I scaled some things back and gave up the horde opting for more units instead.

Again we have Scyla in the back on the 50mm base, Exalted Hero BSB on Palanquin, Nurgle Sorcerer on Palanquin, Throgg, Chimera. Three units of 8 trolls with additional hand weapons, one unit of 6 trolls with additional hand weapons, and 3 Dragon Ogres with Halberds.


Spells, this game I went for the Spell Familiar to give me some more options.



Set Up
My buddy uses Stormcast as Ogres. From left to right he has 6 Leadbeltchers, Butcher, 9 Iron Guts with a Butcher, Sabretusk, 10 Ogres with a BSB & Tyrant, 3 Yeties, Giant, Sabretusk, Sabretusk, and 3 Mournfangs.

Throgg is with the center unit of Trolls.



Turn 1
Trolls get first turn. Not much happens yet, Curse of the Leper on Throgg’s boyz. Leadbeltchers put a wound on the small unit of trolls.


Trolls turn 2
Chimera charges the Yeties, beats them and pursues into the Ogres, face to face with the Tyrant. Small unit of Trolls on the left is Stupid this turn.
The Dragon Ogres and the Mourfangs are having a standoff out of frame, with a Sabretusk playing referee.


Ogres Turn 2
Ironguts Charge the blue trolls getting off and Ogre Charge and dealing 4 wounds before Combat.


The Tyrand does 3 wounds to the Chimera but he chews threw some ogres in return. The Yeties rally. The blue trolls take a beating from the Ironguts and are run down. Thankfully the Sorcerer passes his panic test.


Trolls turn 3
Throggs boyz charge the Sabretusk in front, they beat down the cat and overrun into the Ogres/Chimera fight. Together Throgg’s Boyz and the Chimera beat the Ogres. The Chimera run them down. Throgg’s boys restrain. The green trolls charge and beat down the cat, but can’t make it to the Giant with the overrun. The small unit of Trolls on the right is stupid again. The Dragon Ogres are still in that Standoff waiting for that cat to get out of the way.


Ogre turn 3
The Leadbeltchers pick on the small unit of Trolls. The Butcher with the Ironguts gets off the bubble Toothcracker. It’s not enough to save the Yeties, who charged into Throgg’s Boys with the Giant.

Trolls turn 4
The Mournfang charge together with the Sabretusk and beat down the Dragon Ogres, all out of frame ☹ Throgg beats on the Giant and the Giant kills a troll. Small unit of Trolls is still Stupid. The Sorcerer kills an Ogre with Plague Wind.


Ogres Turn 4
Mournfang try to come around the rear. The Ironguts charge into the flank of Trogg’s Boyz. Throgg’s boyz hold thanks to Scyla and BSB.

Trolls turn 5
Scyla charges into the Ironguts. Throgg kills off the Giant and the Ironguts Kill off the last of his boyz. The green trolls charge the Mournfangs in the flank, who opt to flee. And you guessed it, the small unit of Trolls is still Stupid. The Chimera charged the Leadbeltchers, he killed one but the Ogres were too much for him.


Ogres turn 5
The Leadbeltchers shoot Throgg in the face, but he Regens like a champ only taking 1 wound, thanks to Fleshy Abundance. Scyla beats down more Ironguts. The Mournfang rally.


Trolls turn 6
The small unit of Trolls finally passes a Stupidity Check. They charge, beat and run down the Leadbeltchers. Throgg charges the lone Butcher, but he flees. Scyla finishes off the Ironguts leaving only the other Butcher. The green trolls charge the Mournfang and have a great round of regen. The Mournfang break and run off.


We called it there, 1st win for the Trolls! It was a crazy game, his Butchers and my Sorcerer were dueling Toughness buffs and Hexes on those Ironguts. At one poine they were down to T2, then back to T4, hilarious. I defiantly like the 8 man units over the horde. I am having fun with these guy, gonna have to get some more games in with them.

Having pictures after the game is a funny thing. I should have brought the Chimera down to redirect the Ironguts instead of going after the Leadbeltchers. That could have saved more of Throgg’s boyz, oh well live and learn
