Subject: Osprey sci-fi rules equivalents to infinity?
Hello, are there any osprey rules close to infinity? Infinity is to rules heavy! I love their miniatures but want to play an easier sci-fi skirmish game. Thanks.

Not Osprey, but I'd recommend Zone Raiders- it's very much "infinity-lite" and even though it has a specific setting (very much like the manga BLAME!) it's equipment/units have enough leeway to fit most scifi settings imo.

Rogue Stars is their take on it, but I'd very much recommend Zone Raiders, which is closer and little more balanced.

Just popping in to say that Horizon Wars: Zero Dark will be released by Precinct Omega towards the end of March and I basically wrote it because I loved Infinity's concept but felt it was too complex.
Osprey turned it down because they already had Reality's Edge coming out. Right now, it's available in beta to my Patreon supporters.
Also, nothing stops you from using Infinity miniatures for Spectre Operations. It's generic enough in its troop types, you can just use futuristic versions.

Mob Rule is not a rule.

Is it really though? They said they were looking for something a little less rules heavy versus Infinity. Reality's Edge has a 320 page rulebook versus the 64 page rulebook of Rogue Stars. After reading through and solo playing some Rogue Stars to make sure I can teach it to my game group... it is pretty much everything I wanted versus Infinity.
I can't speak on just how rules heavy the 320 page rulebook to Reality's Edge is since I haven't read it, it doesn't seem like a book I can read cover to cover in just under an hour.

This could help, a pair of really good review videos by Guerilla Gaming:
Now, if you are interested in Cyberpunk especially, from what I understand Reality's Edge is the way to go as there's a whole sub-mechanic of assaulting the other warband via cyberspace.

I'll give another thumbs up to Realities Edge. I loved This is Not a Test, and it beautifully melds those foundations with Cyberpunk tropes.
To those decrying the massive book, remember it is built to be a whole campaign system. I'd say 75% of the book exists to give the game longevity and diversity in a campaign.

Since it has yet to be mentioned, and the thread has somewhat extended beyond Osprey suggestions, I’ll throw in Star Breach as a suggestion. I could hype about it, but I honestly believe it’s a game that speaks for itself. Won a few “user choice” awards last year and growing steadily everyday. And the rules are completely FREE at starbreach.com, so there’s nothing to lose in giving it a go. Cheers!

Well, got in my first games of Rogue Stars today against an actual opponent, he was up and running playing by himself in less than 10 minutes. It was tons of fun not knowing what the opposing force was doing.
