So I have been pairing down my collection over the past couple of weeks and I have reached the point I want to offload my Titans, Knights, and other big stuff. Issue is that they do not fit into foam cases particularly well, they are magnetised but even so I would not trust the postman to ship them safely. I could offer collection only, but then I think that limits the reach of my sales, those who have shipped delicate big stuff, how have you done it?

Lots of padding.

Magnetic sheets could also be helping(though wouldn't trust them alone). When I can shake box without model falling off(bless magnets) it feels pretty sturdy. Just not trusting even that alone enough for post.

Does have downside of having to figure way to attach metal sheet to what you post which also will add price.

I’ve sold a few pure forgeworld armies in the past and the key is padding and separate boxes.

Anything heavy (1KG+ or thereabouts) I put in a separate box.
Magnetised arms/weapons etc are all wrapped separately from the rest with layers of bubble wrap as padding.

Any books are again kept apart in another box.

It’s worth spending the time and extra boxes to make sure something is safe, especially with Royal Mail.
Just go overkill on the packing to be safe, you don’t want any movement in the boxes and I always layer each box with 3 sections of bubble wrap to be safe.
So that way no parts are touching each other or the box, nothing heavy can crush anything else.

I’ve sent a fair few parcels but anything delicate always gets wrapped with severe overkill, but I’ve never had anything I’ve sent break in the post, so easily worth it.

So that will be quite expensive in wrapping material, would you charge extra for postage and packing?

Packing peanuts. Lots of them. Then more. Then more. Then put the big thing in, having removed any magnetised parts, and bubble wrapped them separately. Then more peanuts. Then more. Take a deep breath. Shake the box. Breathe again (or start again if you hear ANYTHING in the shake), seal and send recorded delivery and insured.

I charge postage & £1 for materials. It puts some people off. You won't be selling a titan for thruppence, but it WILL discourage some buyers to pay actual P&P costs on top. Good luck!

I recommend bubble wrap or those big air bladders over peanuts.

When I move the movers just wrap everything in paper till there's no room in the box and it generally works. And I move ever 2-3 years usually overseas.

Charge every penny or shilling that you spend for packing materials.

Anyone that gets "put off" by having to pay how much it's going to cost to safely send the model to them is an idiot, and probably would have complained about the insurance fees.

You are also paying for insurance, and taking pictures so that you have proof of:
* The original condition of the model
* How you packed it
* That you actually packed it in the box

It's also going to be safer to pack the parts into a box, and then put that box inside a larger box, padded with bubble wrap or whatever. Boxes get gouged and beat up for all sorts of reasons, especially if the package is going across borders.

your mind

I find a study cardboard box,
Then build out custom foam core to hold it an rigidify the box,
Then add foam where useful or bubble wrap.
Oh yeah, i hot glue all the internals
And after closing tape generously.

Always charge more for the packing, most people won’t bat an eye once it arrives as they know it was done for a reason.

I would try to avoid packing peanuts if possible though as they have enough movement for parts to move around still.
