I think you need to be more specific, since you are explicitly using the term "tank" and not transport. Are you referring to a character model (eg a Space Marine captain) embarking into a transport,like a Landraider? No, the aura does not work.
Do you mean a character upgrade to a tank? Like Sgt Chronus? Yes, his auras (if he has any) do work.
