Disclaimer to start. I am following Darren Lathams masterclass on YouTube for the blight king.

I have always settled for tabletop standard in my painting, but now I am trying to push myself to the next level.

I will be trying new techniques for me. This includes a wet pallet and mixing colours, something in 15 years of painting and playing I have never done.

I will be painting all flesh, armour weapons metal etc to the tutorial, 1 model at a time sp I can see my improvement over the course of the army

I feel like I am 90% there with the skin. Do I leave it as is or do I go back in and tidy it up and add yellow and purple glazing for bruising. What do you wonderful people think

Wow, that skin came out really great! It's cool to see the play-by-play with the different layers. I reckon push on with the rest of the horse first and then come back and visit bruising etc later!

So a batch painting of mounts and shrine carriers began today.

I will give a mixture of stage.

This base stage over black primer is 80% bugmans glow to 20% screamer pink. Took about 4 layers to get a good even coverage.

So this time around, I added equal parts Canadian flesh tone to the mix of the base coat. Covering all but the deepest recesses on the underside of areas. These included the arms and pecks of his 4 pack

Just a small update this morning, a quick group shot of the batch painting. That's 20 knights, warshrine, and karakdrak lord being worked on simultaneously. 7 the

Knights and the test knight are now at the same stage as the above mix.

Finally made it back to the painting table today.

Continuing on with my skin build up on the next 3 guys. I added kislev flesh to the previous mix. Only leaving a small amount of the previous layer showing.

It is now the next layer that I will start really focusing in the highlights.

And the karkadrak. Due to the scale skin I have just built his skin up with light wet brushing

Unfortunately forgot to photo the stages between the kislev flesh layer and the final layer,

I first washed the skin with a 70/30 mix of Lehman medium and reikland flesh shade, which as you can see it clouded out in places. (This will be fixed later)

Then I rehighlighted kislev flesh. I didn't quite like how it originally came out.

Then I highlighted with ushabti bone, and finished on screaming skull.

I then went around and painted abadon black kn all the none skin details.

And finally added Khorne red to all the cloth

So some more work today on the cloth so far.

I made a mix of 50/50 incubi darkness and khorne red took it to a wash consistancy and applied it all over the cloth. the effect is very subtle and unfortunwattely the camera doesn't pick it up too well.

Next i took nuln oil and applied it to the deepest recesses. In these cases right under the belly, under the bellt, next to the boots and armour, and in any holes of the cloth, then finally i went back to the khorne and uncubi darkness mix and applied it to the very bottoms of the cloth again where dirt would build up the most.
