Hi, I’d like your thoughts om this list. Feels silly to put 2/3 of the army into three HQ choices, but I also think it could be a real threat at this points level. How do you think it would fare? What would you change?

Slaanesh Daemons, 1000 points

HQ:

Syll'Esske: Warlord, Delightful Agonies, Symphony of Pain

Keeper of Secrets: Sinistrous hand, Forbidden Gem, Hysterical Frenzy, Symphony of Pain,

Keeper of Secrets: Shining aegis, Soulstealer, Delightful Agonies, Symphony of Pain

TROOPS:
18 Daemonettes: Instrument

12 Daemonettes: Instrument

12 Daemonettes: Instrument

ELITES:
1 Fiend

1 Fiend

TOTAL: 996pts, 7 CP

Brief thoughts breakdown:
It’s very thematical with a bunch of Daemonettes in 6s, a couple of Greater Daemons, a Daemon Prince and some Slaanesh puppies. I wanted a Herald, but Syll’Esske kind of covers that and the smaller Daemonette units won’t hurt anything anyways, they just screen and sit on objectives if left untouched. Which they might be, as two KoS will draw most incoming fire. Could instead deep strike the KoS with the Forbidden Gem to pop it adaptably to what I need to shut down, and to cast Hysterical Frenzy when I’m sure something has reached CC. Pretty straight forward though, and obviously fliers will be tricky — as always without a daemon prince with wings.

Thanks!

If you're going to try the monster mash it's probably better to go all-in and just take the minimum three 10-man blocks of Daemonettes.

I've toyed with a list like that: 3 Kos, 3x10 Daemonettes with no upgrades at all, and a Soul Grinder. Haven't actually put it on the table yet though.

Hi mate, thanks for the input. I think I’d go Syll’Esske over a third KoS any day. It just adds so much flexibility and takes on virtually anything, from hordes to heavy armour.

Stripping down everything to fit 3 KoS, Syll, 3x10 ’nettes leaves me just out of price at 1020 points. But swapping one KoS for a soulgrinder puts me within the limits, so I guess that would work. Not sure I’d go that route though at it thorougly reduces the lore and thematic feel of the army.

Think I’d in that case be more inteigued to go with something like Syll + 2x KoS + 2x12 ’nettes + 1x10 ’nettes + Daemon Prince with wings.

Also, how do you think the original list would fare? What would be the mail strengths and weaknesses/challenges? Thanks!

I've really only played one mono-Slaneesh list and it's a lot hordier than that. Syll'Esske, Herald on a Chariot, two 5-man seeker squads, three Fiends, 2x26 Daemonettes with banner and instruments, 10 Daemonettes plain.

It's done ok when I've been able to leverage the janky charge and terrain mechanics, and not so ok when my opponent has been able to leverage the janky terrain mechanics and my lack of FLY.

The problem I think you're going to run into with your original list is that if it goes second your KoS are going to attract every shot your opponent can get into range of them, they're too big to hide and not tough enough to handle that much attention. It's a very all-or-nothing list, and that's why I haven't got around to trying it myself. ...but since I haven't tried it my evaluation is also suspect.

Cheers buddy. Yeah I get it. It’s probably better to go all in on either swarm or monster mash to overwhelm the opponent one way or the other. Just not really doing it for me, I wanna try at something s bit more balanced.

Say I don’t put either KoS in reserve. One has aegis, the other gets warp surged to 4++. It sounds difficult to completely wreck them both turn one, should I go second, with only 1000 points worth of fire power. Add delightful agonies on the large unit of daemonettes if I go first.

Do the fiends serve any real purpose in your opinion? Are they usuful/effecrive at this level or would it be better to drop them in favour of more daemonettes, for exempel?

Thanks again!

The Fiends are a distraction-carnifex, people are always surprised when the realize how little hitting power they actually have for a model that size. Really cheap as distraction-carnifexes go though.
