I recently got some weathering powder to try my hand and weathering my models and bases.

This Lord Discordant was the result of my first attempt. Appreciate any feedback.

you did a great job here I'm surprised you're not getting any praise or feedback.

Does the hazard pattern on the sword really suit the theme of the model though? Looks quite out of place and takes ur attention away from the rest of it.. I think you should feth that off and the model would look way better

Thanks for the feedback. I'm really not sure what to paint over the hazard job though. I feel like it's a lot of red on the model so I was going for something to break up the colour scheme a bit. Any suggestions?

The sword is removed enough from the model that red would be fine I think. Definitely more suitable than the hazard striping.

Also, look into masking tapes by Tamiya, they make them in very narrow strips, ideal for masking off small areas like the sword so you get clean, consistent striping.

thanks for the tip. I was wondering how everyone got those clean lines on striping.

Weathering looks good to me, the only problem is the hazard checks on that chain sword, the yellow has been put over black basecoat athats why the finish looks messy and translucent. You cant paint yellow over black no matter how many layers you do the pigment just isn't strong enough. You should of painted them grey/white and then yellow over that. I would just paint the whole chain sword black by removing the yellow lines and that will look pretty good.

The model looks good, mate, I like the weathering effect you've achieved. Which powders did you use?

After several youtube video reviews I did the weathering with a combo of stuff.
1) Base was painted black, and while still wet I dabbed in random splotches of bright red, yellow, blue, and green
2) I washed this over with Agrax Earthshade, and then washed all the crooks, and crevases and areas I wanted deeper shade with nuln oil
3) drybrushed kislev flesh over top
4) Actual weathering powders was a Vallejo dirt weathering kit (Desert Dust, Black Iron Oxide, Dark Yellow Ochre, and Burnt Umber)
5) Areas I wanted darkest I weathered in Iron Oxide, and went to progressively lighter powders as I moved up the base and model
