Any thoughts on the show? I had been looking forward to this for a long time and when it finally released, I was incredibly dissapointed. The visuals are quite nice, but trying to sync it up with a podcast doesn’t work. Hopefully Pendleton Ward’s next project will be more coherent and less boring.

I watched the first two episodes last night. No idea of it’s roots or the people involved in it’s creation, so went in more-or-less blind.

Seemed a kind of random stream of consciousness on topics (drugs and death for the two I watched) with some interesting visuals. Which IMHO detracted from the subject mater. You have philosophical ramblings at total disconnect from your visuals. Which should I be paying attention to? Because zombie apocalypse didn’t have a whole to do with drugs, mental states, impact/responsibility, etc. The animation was just added on top of the dialog seemingly.

It wasn’t like a show where the themes were woven with the plot, so they support and reinforce each other. Where the characters show you what’s going on though their actions/dialog. It was 100% tell.

Now was this intentional? Is this a famous podcaster animating his work? I have no idea. But it came across as a fancy screen saver doing random patterns as the voiceover delivers the message.

Its created by Pendleton Ward. The creator of Adventure Time.
Adventure Time is one of my favorite cartoons of all time.
I didn't like anything about the episode. I made it about 5 minutes in and went back to playing video games.

I will repeat my thoughts: So the reviews are good. But honestly, it comes across as podcast by a stoner with random animations in the background.I slogged through (because it must become good right, it has like an 8 out of 10 score) to watch episode 4 on forgiveness, it came up in my life coincidentally, and JFC the interviewer is less coherent than the person being interviewed.

How are these reviews so good? The animation is good, but the podcast part is just mindnumbingly bad.
