Hi people ! So I am a big fan of Chaos Space Marines. They were one of the main aspect that draw me to the 40k universe in my teenage years. Saddly I only began to play in my 20's, and even back then (5th ed), they were biting the dust. Now, with their awesome new models and rules, even thought I know they have it hard right now, I'd like to give it a go again, but by carefully planning my list. I am a bit disappointed that most list seem to really mostly on hordes cultists, especially since I don't like hordes army and that the current Marine models look so awesome. Is it still possible to find a use to them ? They would be awesome to paint. Someone suggested me to use them as Chosen. What do you think about it ?

The reason for my condundrum is that I could start my army by getting the Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse Chaos Space Marines: Battalion Detachment (I could even get 3 boxes of them).

The idead I had was to go Red Corsairs to get a lot of CP, finally finding a use to the CM. But what after that ? Here's what I came up with :

The list looks like a solid one based on the contents of the Apocalypse box.

If you like the aesthetic, how about sourcing the old Dark Vengeance Chosen on ebay and rebasing them onto 32mm?You could use them as squad sergeants or characters. In the same vein, have you thought about picking up Huron Blackheart? Or maybe making a more up-to-date conversion?

Onto the rules side of things, so you've got the CSM and a boat load of CP, but not much to spend it on from the looks of it. Endless Cacophony a couple of times, and There's More Where They Came From - but you lack the heavy hitting power to really leverage all this effectively. Maybe look into havocs/obliterators/plasma-terminators to bring a bit more ranged hurt.

Onto the CC side of things, your 'Legion' trait also allows you to advance + charge, which can benefit certain in-your-face army builds such as a large squad of possessed, backed up by a sorcerer with warptime to allow them to move + advance twice, and then charge. This can be a bit hit and miss though - so it's important to maintain shooting support.
The other problem with possessed is the models (which are awful when compared to the new CSM).

Can't really comment on the knight since I've never gamed with one, but all in all it looks to be a good start with room for growth and improvement.
