So I am a completely new player and overall beginner. I have decided to play Space Wolves as my first army simply because I like the models. While I don't expect a super competitive army, especially at 1k points, I also don't want to be completely worthless either.

I would love some feedback on this list before I start pulling the trigger and buying them.

At a 1000 pts, it seems reasonable. I'd give lascannons thought to the venerable dreadnought. His 2+ bs is jut to good to not give him lascannons. I'd also use him to shield murderfang (since he had the character keyword. I'd use the fenrisian wolve to screen the Wolf Lord. But I'd give this last one a thunder hammer. Space Wolves with TH are just to good to pass.

As far as composition goes it looks pretty solid. Walking your venerable up in front of murderfang is probably your best bet as murderfang is squishy in comparison to all other dreads. You have a lot of horde removal but only a few lascannons to deal with heavies. Consider a pack of wulfen with th ss or a pack of thunderwolves with the same. Even Bjorn would be a solid heavy removal... dudes the best dread in the game right now.

Otherwise, looks like a solid core team.
