Haven't really played in any tourneys or even many random pick up games since 7th edition. Currently I've decided to work on Blood Angels but really have no clue what's worth painting these days. I'm so far out of the meta now I don't want to paint half an army's worth of models and find out my choices are crap competitively. I understand we are in the midst of an edition change and a points update, but can anyone recommend some 'sure-fire' units to get painted up in the meantime that are pretty likely to see play? Currently I'm just doing a squad of intercessors and a squad of assault intercessors (conversions) but I have access to most everything Blood Angels related.

Thanks to anyone who can throw me a bone!

Its a bit early to make really confident calls, but...

Transports.
The missions really want you to get out of the backfield and take objectives and perform actions on secondary objectives.

So cheap Impulsors, Rhinos or whatever to move your flavor of marine up-field and claim things as their own.

I'd hesitate on the big lads (Land Raiders, Storm Ravens and Repulsors), but 2-3 transports seems a sound investment.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

I second transports as a recommendation.

For BA specifically a Smash captain will most likely still be used.
I set my eyes on some Outrider bikes which will be in your hands within the next 14 days if you got a box from the first wave of Indomitus.

I think a Librarian is a good all rounder. Take Mephiston so you can use him as a generic one as well if needed.

Custom40k Homebrew - Alternate activation, huge customisation, support for all models from 3rd to 10th edition

Designer's Note: Hardened Veterans can be represented by any Imperial Guard models, but we've really included them to allow players to practise their skills at making a really unique and individual unit. Because of this we won't be making models to represent many of the options allowed to a Veteran squad - it's up to you to convert the models. (Imperial Guard, 3rd Edition)
