Just yesterday I created the thread with the purposefully inflammatory title "enough with the hyperbole!" and I did not even take a single day for the thread to be locked because some people did exactly what I said in my initial post: missing the point on purpose and arguing over details to prove the next poster wrong and feel better. It also turned political real fast for no apparent reason...
This thread is a last ditch effort to hopefully get my message across, hopefully without people starting to argue about nazis for some reason within the first two pages. The important point I wanted to make with the original thread was that if you want to see something improve within 40k and if you have put some thought into ideas how to improve stuff, it would be more useful to write GW directly instead of raging endlessly on a forum, which in the long run accomplishes nothing. Also that we do not have conclusive information about 9th eds codices and how the meta will shift with new faction rules and new faction specific secondaries etc.
I honestly expected to get strawmanned immediately and surely enough I was right, so let me clarify: I am not saying that you should never vent on a forum like dakka and discuss the things you dislike about 40k. I am also not saying everyone has to be cuddly and nice and GW is the best company ever and can do no wrong, far from it. I am saying that quite often at some point in these discussions, people start arguing over details to prove each other wrong, which accomplishes nothing.
I am saying that at some point that energy should be directed at GW to give constructive criticism and try to improve things. Even though the individual might not be heard, if enough people do it, there might be that one idea or criticism from the fanbase that gets picked up by GW and makes the game better as a whole.
