Now in the Marine Codex, it states that units deepstriking by pods can always deepstrike even if the rules of a mission don't allow....

In the CoD Codex it states that in order to deep strike in a mission you have to use one of your strategy points (or whatever they are called).

My question, do I have to waste the strategy point so I can pod?  I man if I don't take that strategy, then naturally the rules for that mission say I cannot deep strike, but then the pod rule says I can always deep strike even if the mission says no deep strike...

See the Problem?

Well, keep reading that strategem, later on it talks about how models that don't need permission before still don't now. However, the bigger question is, where's the droppod strategem?

Just messin' with ya. Droppods don't care about, or need, strategems.

Thanks for clearing that up, we only have one CoD codex btw 6 guys and I haven't read it yet but my opponents insist that I must waste a point even though I questioned one guy in particular several times....

Of course, none of the Cityfighting missions are listed as "standard" either so using Drop Pods in them is a no-no unless you clear it with your opponent ahead of time.

I thought any mission that uses the standard FoC is a 'standard mission' for drop pods.

Where did you come by that impression?

The rulebook lists 5 standar missions and calls them "standard". I checked through CoD but I didn't see any indication that any of them were considered standard.

Point - Yakface.
Sideboard, do the basic COD missions count as standard?
Discuss.

I have nothing useful to add.

Pg 48 of CoD calles the first five missions "Standard" in the opening paragraph. True , it says standard cityfighting missions , but that would only put them in a further sub-set of the Standard missions , and not outside of the set of standard missions.

Drop pods should be usable.

Sincity

Now , I will show them why they fear the night.

Page 78 of the BGB...It says that that FoC chart is used for all standard missions. It's even labeled as that.

Granted, that doesn't prove that it's not used for other missions, and that every mission that uses that chart is a standard mission, but then there's nothing in the rules to tell you what FoC to use for a mission that  doesn't have a type listed for it (standard, battle, raid) (assuming Cityfight doesn't have an FoC listed for all cityfight battles or something).

Pods don't deepstrike.

Pods don't deepstrike.

Sorry, I wasn't giving a quote. I'm at work and not near the Codex. Pods can always enter with the reserves rule right, well whatever or however it is said, they can always fall on the field starting on turn 2 lol. Sorry for the misinformation and thanks for the catch Mauleed.
