Would anyone bat an eyelid if one were to field alpha legion (with the shoulder pads and paint scheme) as loyalists?
Seems fitting. I have just finished listening to the legion audiobook and so far its my favourite Legion as it seems the most honourable. The fact they rescued bronzie at the end and didin't kill the other operative witness outright on the cabals ship and the insane choice really brought some respect.

Do any alpha legion fans have some cool paint schemes they wana share?

Not saying that im going to go out and start an alpha army but... I am considering it.

Play them as Loyalists in what way?

Not using CSM rules or using Successor rules?

I wouldn't bat an eye at it...considering they never left Imperial service....

Personally I'm considering starting a 40k Alpha Legion army that could be used as either Loyalist or Traitors. Have Imperial Mk7-8 armor and spiked CSM armor mixed together in squads.
Additionally I really like the "infiltrator" motif they pulled off in the HH Raven Guard book and was considering having a few "recalled" agents wearing other chapter's/legion's colors; maybe with a shroud over the chapter/legion shoulder pad bearing an Alpha Legion mark...

Well, there is this one guy who started making AL marines in mid-deactivation of cloaking gear (half AL, half other chapter). Sadly, this spawned big wave of imitators, so dunno if you would find it appealing. The effect is kind of cool though. Example of such model:

Yeah I was thinking full on alpha legion (but without spikes and chaosy mutations) or "decloaking alpha legion" as mentioned below.
The idea is so that I could potentially double-dip and play as either CSM or SM. I do like the clean metalick blue and silver scheme though.

Yes the best example I saw was a red marine(maybe a blood angel?) going to alpha legion.
This is something I find appealing. But also it might be a bit over-ambitious.

But I really like the standard AL scheme with the metallic light blue and silver so at the same time dont want to spoil it.
I have some marines kicking about from various trades. Might do a small project with KT in mind and see how it goes...

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

As Irbis said, they became really popular some time ago. Some people have really great looking ones.

Now the question is, are they able to make two of everything with the spliced models? Or are they gaining a bunch of basing material?

I don't know the technicalities of it but personally I'd build an army with individual units either from one "borrowed" army and drop in one or two of these "morphs" so I could run two armies for the price of 1.01 armies :p an UM and then an AL once I've sprinkled these morphs in. Or I'd build the army with a bunch of different Legions if I was building a purely AL army. My tanks? Iron Hands morphing to AL. My Raptors? Raven Guard Beakies morphing ...

I like the idea of the Morphs but completely lack the skill to convert or even paint them. I tried once with some IG and WHFB Skeletons. I found I couldn't get 2x from the kitbash but it was closer to 1.75x. too much was lost in the cutting to really be doubling up but with the correct use of GS it could work. However mine looked really bad and I shelved the project until I got better at it and by the time I did WHFB didn't exist any more.

AL are not loyalist. I know a BL publication has come out but by the main lore, codex, the AL are fully chaos.

A few loyalist warbands MAY be floating around. But as a whole, 99% of the legion are dirty dudes.

I dont know why but AL seems to be a big thing for loyalist players to try to take from chaos. Its kinda weird.

Edit : You are certainly free to do what you like. And I myself would still play you as long as the army was painted. The above is just to say that by codex, AL are not good guys.

Because "mUh CaBaL" and gak spouted from 1d4chan and memes as truth.

It's all an illusion them DPs, Possessed and Daemons they use. Whatever the AL may have intended millennia ago is now long forgotten with only maybe a few cells still operating to whatever their original intentions were.

OP- It wouldn't bother me. But I feel like you may be disappointed in the results of your army if you approach your models with intent to double dip. Your army could come out looking noncommitted in a sense. Better to model for one and then if you wanna play counts as then cool.
