Looks like many years have gone by since there was a 40k music thread (a big one from 10 years ago which is worth a read/listen).

This thread is less about specific theme music and more about music that is 40k appropriate in general. But feel free to go theme based if you want. I'll get things started with The Heresy by Mushroomhead:

It bring a bit of the atomic age retro thing but I think it's main style is from later decades enough to not be fallout video game appropriate. Brings up thoughts of a radical inquisitor or something.

I have a feeling just going back through the videos put out by Napalm Records and Nuclear Blast Records is going to be quite good for 40k videos/music.

For 40k music, I typically think of two things, and the two might well overlap in a given piece:

- industrial, with sounds of clanging metal and deep bass tones;
- more atmospheric, with choirs and chanting, often with hints of background wind that evokes images of looooong drops into nothing.

There are two great examples on the Unreal series soundtracks, titled (appropriately enough!) "Razorback", and "Infernal Realm"...

BigDickCheney's videos of dawn of war on youtube had some really good music added in from a couple different composers, but Shiro Sagisu's in particular fit exceptionally well.

It's amazing what a little change of music will do to a trailer.

I had hoped one day that I might be able to write or animate a story about titans after hearing Ivan Torrent's "The Awakening". Alas, this was the best I could do for now:

It never ends well
