Long time no post but I just want to share my finished Contemptor Dreadnought of my freshly started Alpha Legion Army.
First time I'm using oils in the painting workflow and I'm super happy with the result.

I would be too - that looks incredible! Can I ask where the oils come into it...?

Thanks guys!

@Super Ready The workflow is as follows:
- Airbrush Basecoat with 4 shades of Vallejo Model Turquoise. First the middle tone, then one dark shade on the parts facing down, 2 highlights on the parts facing up
- One layer of a metallics for the silver parts (I used GW Runefang Steel mixed with some Vallejo Model Air Gunmetal)
- Adding rust effects with 3 different colors. I use a sponge for the initial dark reddish brown, then adding orange and a middle brown with the brush
- Edge highlight with a light turquoise for the armor and rust
- Seal everything with matt varnish (important since the thinned down oil wash affects the acrylics)
- Creating the oil wash with Abteilung502 Bitume, a bit of Turquoise and a good amount of Windsor&Newton White Spirit
- Slap that oil wash heavily onto the whole mini using a synthetic brush
- Letting it settle for about 5-10 minutes
- Time for some magic: The oil layer is editable for hours. Using a Q-Tip and a synthetic brush I remove and alter the shading of the oil to get the desired effects. It's easy, fast and sloppy and the final result is just amazing
- Adding some streaking effects with Abteilung502 Red Primer
- After some hours of drying time I add another coat of matt varnish
- Final highlights for the silver parts and the rest of the mini with acrylics

There is an instagram story highlight of the Contemptor at https://www.instagram.com/krautheadstudio/ - you can see that the initial acrylics basecoat is pretty simple and easy to do. The whole mini took me about 12 hours.

Ohhhh, yes I see! Now that I'm looking for it I can see where you've drawn the oil out. And yes agreed, that IS amazing.
