People are starting a slow growing AOS league here and I decided to join in with Chaos Dwarfs. The points are 500->750->1k->1,25->1,5k.
Any advice, where should I start and where should I expand? What would make a better overall start? I suppose, I should always pick Fireglaives over Ironsworn, as they just offer so much more utility. So I'm thinking about 4x10 Fireglaives and a Daemonsmith for starters? Or maybe a Magma Cannon? Or K'Dai? The latter look so damn cool...

While it may not be the advice you're looking for, I cannot recommend going Chaos Dwarfs in good conscience.

They're a Forge World-Only army. Forge World's AoS lineup has been getting slashed hard recently. You may suddenly find your 750pt, unfinished army to be entirely unavailable for purchase one day. Segments of their Destruction monsters have been removed.

They haven't been updated for a good while, leaving them with outdated rules. Their future is uncertain.

With all that said... Ironsworn have their place, holding the line and snagging objectives. Fireglaives should be backing them up, picking apart targets. You could run only Fireglaives, but as soon as something gets in melee with them, that's the only thing they can shoot. Having the freedom to choose who you can shoot at is a great boon.

Daemonsmith is a good choice. Grab some artillery to go with it later. Once you have your core of Chaos Dorfs built, expand out in to the more unique choices they have.
