I’m looking at the spells in the new marine codex, and they all seem to have a keyword attached now: blessing, malediction, or witchfire. But I can’t find anything that explains what they mean.

Also, I noticed that Null Zone now says unit, as opposed to enemy unit. Can that be right?

I noticed that too - I can't find anything that triggers those keywords just yet, but that may well change as the edition continues and more Codexes appear.
And yes - Null Zone affects all units, not just enemies! Buyer beware.

GW is categorizing things again, but not doing anything with the classifications. This could be considered future-proofing. It is also (like with the strategems) putting things in groups to ease memorization and accessibility. Not sure if it will work in that regard, but that seems to be what they're doing.

In general-
Blessing seems to affect friendly units (null zone's _effect_ is an aura on the psyker)
Witchfire is damage against enemies
Malediction is basically the opposite of blessings, that affect enemy units, but aren't damaging effects




As to Null Zone... sure. It kills _all_ invulnerable saves, but only cripples enemy psykers. Honestly that's such a situationally powerful ability that having a downside is a good thing.
