Ok there's the strat that lets you use a dimensional corridor to move a core infantry unit (Can we make CIU an official abbrev for core infantry unit?) from anywhere on the field to within 3" of a necron monolith. Ok, can this pull a CIU out of close combat? It could be useful do that in some cases. The strat does not say you can just beam a squad out of close combat but it doesn't say you can't either.

The rules tell you what you can do, then put restrictions on top of that. The stratagem lets you "select a <DYNASTY> CORE INFANTRY unit from your army that is on the battlefield" and remove it from the battlefield. None of the rules regarding being within Engagement Range prevent this, nor does the Stratagem itself, so you can use it on a unit within Engagement Range.

Yes, you can pull out a unit from melee, and it doesnt count as fallback.

Ok, leaving in that sense is normal movement. This is a strat that costs a CP to use. and again, says nothing about combat.

But i'm sure that when gw finds it gave necrons a buff it'l get faq'ed to death.

Whut? Can you give a page citation for that? Firstly, there is no concept of "leaving combat" in 40k. Secondly, Fall Back explicitly is a way to move away from being engagement range, so the entire premise that "you can't leave combat" is wrong on that front.

I did just that. As i read it it stated repositioned models could be moved out of engagement range.
