New player here, Finally landed on what I wanted to play with my friends. Our group is non-competitive, focused on having fun and being more interested in odd combos etc. So optimisation is not necessary, though obviously synergies are nice.

We will be starting out with 500 point armies to learn the game (I am not the only new gamer), so I included two lists, a max 500 point and a max 1000 point.

The Inquisitor will stay no matter what, and I like the Sagittarium Custodes in the 1000 points army, so they stay too. Ideas for the rest, or for traits/strategems etc.

I'm not 100% sure why you've gone for SoS. I have very little faith in them to be honest.

I would try to fit a couple of Swords/Boards in your Guard Squad, or even perhaps swap them out for more Sags.

Games workshop dropped a points change for most armies back on the 7th January. Custodes came out of it really well, as Guardians dropped to 45 points, including spear. Vertus jetbikes dropped to 85 points now as well. If you check the warhammer community page it's on their somewhere. Pr if you use battlescibe, that's been updated with the new points cote

So, you have more points to play with, which is nice. Enough to add that 4th guardian back into the 1k list.

Also, the sisters are elite, not troops. Doesn't matter for your current list but just Fyi.

I read the FAQ and have changed the armies

Definitely include a sentinel sword and shield custodian. That 3+ invul save is much more useful than the spear. I used my sagittarium the first time this weekend, great shooting but then were overwhelmed in melee. Also, I like the salvo launcher much more than the hurricane bolters. I think you need the high damage output more than S4 AP0 D1 shots, unless you only face Orks.
