I was introduced to 40k back in 2001-2002, I built up a sizable force of Necrons back then, built a monolith but never painted it. Then one day I was like, I'm gonna paint this damn monolith it's been sitting around for long enough. Within a few months the new necrons came out, the newcrons lol.
Since then I've been collecting and painting a fair share of Death Guard, I've been on quite the painters journey. I'm an artist by trade as a graphic designer amongst other things so I felt like I'd be letting myself down if I didn't try and learn as much the hard way as I could before splooging on replacements for all my dried paints. I fell back on my existing skills but also watched a lot of content on youtube that didn't exist when I was first into the hobby, and painted the Dark Imperium and a box of plague marines using only cheap 1 dollar craft paints, a wet pallet, and some decent artist additives like matte and glaze medium. The came out pretty decent, but now I've gotten my hands on a Valejo paint set, and a Kimera paint set, and an airbrush, and I'm moving forward collecting and painting more Death Guard.
My first model painted with the new paints was a Plagueburst Crawler, while I was painting it I was matching my old paint scheme but the box art was haunting me so I basically just repainted it, check it out. Behind the plague marines are my old chaos dudes who barely saw any tabletop action.
