I would like to have some input here for possible fair house rules to make the void shield generator (the unaligned fortification) more useful and align it with the current iteration of void shield rules of the Adeptus Titanicus titans.
These are:
Each void shield has 3 shield points. While this model has any void shields, it has a 5+ invulnerable save against ranged attacks.
Each time a saving throw is failed for this model against a ranged attack, if it has any void shields, it does not suffer any damage. Instead, for each point of damage inflicted, one of its void shields loses 1 shield point. Once a void shield has lost a shield point, it must continue to lose shield points due to any further damage inflicted until it collapses. Each time an attack causes a void shield to be reduced to 0 shield points, that void shield collapses: this model loses that void shield and any excess damage inflicted by that attack is lost. Void shields can never be used to prevent mortal wounds (each mortal wound inflicted on a model with void shields causes that model to lose one wound as normal).
At the start of your Command phase, if this model has a void shield that has fewer than 3 shield points remaining, that void shield is restored to 3 shield points.
The Void Shield Generator on the other hand projects its void shield to units within 12'' giving them a 5++ against shooting from outside the Void shield "bubble". It currently costs 200 points.
I'm considering if and how the new Void shield rules could be transfered. The straight forward approach would be to just give the Generator lets say 3 Void shields and let the above stated rule apply to everything within 12'' when something outside of 12'' fires on it.
One thing though: it would be pretty easy to get around it by just firing on the most succeptible units first to remove the shields before firing on the juicy targets. So for example if player A has a Baneblade and an infantry squad within range, Player B can first pile 10 wounds on the infantry, removing all Void shields and then fire at the Baneblade, which would again make the Generator pretty pointless. So the question is: would it make sense if the player controlling a unit inside the Void shield cuppola could choose if he wants to use it or not?
So in the example: if Player A could decide to not protect his Infantry the Generator would (in my opinion) well be worth 400 points as it would increase the survivability of characters and big units significantly.
Any opinions/input/ideas to make this work and still be fairly priced?
