Getting back into the game after a semi-short break and…wow! 9th edition is exciting! I searched for this but didn’t see anything so here goes:

1. Did they lift the restrictions of how many units you can put in strategic reserves or setup as reinforcements?

2. Let’s say I have 3 units in reserve, but my opponent wipes my other models off the table. Is the game over, or do I “rejoin” the game in my next Reinforcements phase of my turn?

I’m sure I’ll have plenty more questions as we go. I really like 9th edition so far!

Thanks in advance for your time and patience!

1. This is determined by the mission pack that you are using, e.g. step 10 of the Eternal War mission pack.

2. There is no more "sudden death" rule; the battle keeps going until all battle rounds are completed, even if one side is completely wiped out.

I'm getting back into the game after a break due to COVID restrictions, so this is a test for me...

1) The restrictions are still there, but they've been moved to the mission packs for the type of game you're playing. So, for example, in the rule book you'll find the limits in section 10, "Declare reserves and transports", that starts on page 281.

2) Check the mission pack again. The Eternal War missions certainly keep on playing if your entire force has been wiped out, there's no "instant win" scenario. If you can build up enough of a point lead in turns 1, 2 and 3 and are then wiped out then your opponent has turn 4 and 5 to try and catch up. In your case you'd get to bring your reinforcements in on your turn as you keep having turns even when you've been wiped out, it's just the normally you can't do much with them.
