Noob question. I am building a 2500 pt DA list to play against my buddies SW list. I have it narrowed to 3 lists. They are 90% identical but vary by 2-3 units. Would it be appropriate to upload all 3 lists for critique? If so, do I just do the entire battlescribe printouts or should I summarize and just outline the differences? Its by no means a competitive list. Mostly picked chars and units I liked. There was some effort put into effectiveness and synergy but it wasn't my priority. My buds SW list is totally conceptual. He didn't pay much attention to competition at all so I dont feel the need to crush him. Though, I do assume The First won't have much problem with the space pups no matter what he brings : )

Like I said, total noob and I dont want to spam everyone.

Maybe just post the 90% that they all have in common and then mention which paths you are considering going with the last 10%?

Here's the general idea. I'm a noob so go easy on me.
As I said, it's not meant to be uber competitive but a cross between what I have, characters I like or want to try and then as functional as I can get. There's a core group I'm aiming at (though open to suggestions) and then some variance.

Ezekiel (in aux support detachment, interomancy is too good)
Azrael
Captain Terminator – TH, SS (The Honour Vehement for the extra attacks)
Librarian Terminator – veil of time, null zone
5 Intercessors – auto bolters
5 Intercessors – stalkers
5 Tactical – missile launcher (or heavy bolter)
1 DW Apothecary – selfless healer
5 DW Command Squad
5 DW Knights
3 Eliminators – just to mess with his chars (comedic value really, i thought Bolts of Judgement for the Sarge would be sweet)

Then either one of the 3 options below in 3 different brackets (hope that makes sense):

5 / 6 / 5 BG vets
4 / 5 / 8 Plasma inceptors
4 / 5 / 6 Eradicators
1 / 1 / 0 Redemptor Dread
1 / 0 / 0 Dark Talon

Basically I take BG vets, Inceptors, Eradicators, a Redemptor Dread and maybe a Dark Talon.
I just take more BG, Inceptors or Eradicators if I don’t take the Dark Talon and/or the Redemptor.
So I guess it comes down to whether or not one option makes more competetive sense or not. I do have a Redemptor
that looks cool and was hoping to use. The Dark Talon is really more of an intriguing choice. I'm curious about trying
a flyer and it seems pretty badass.

Thanks everyone. Any input you would have would be appreciated.

I think that you have some redundancies in your list - I don't think you need Azrael and a Terminator Captain, nor Ezekiel and a Terminator Librarian. It is true that the Terminator characters can teleport in with your Terminators, but I find I do that much less in 9th than I did in previous editions. Dropping two redundant characters would free some points.

I think that Eradicators would go well with Azrael - they give you a punch against tanks and monsters. Plasma Inceptors are also money with Azrael. The Redemptor Dread is also a good inclusion. You could turn the Deathwing Command Squad into a Deathwing Terminator Squad and build a Vanguard Detachment to have Obsec on them.

I took the Dark Talon to one event a while ago. It was very useful against Harlequins due to the Mortal Wounds, but it can be shot out of the sky. You can pop the 4++ strat on it, but that only gets you so far.

Great info. Exactly what I was looking for. I think you may have misread, or I mistyped, I dont have a termie chaplain but I do have a termie captain. The idea was he'd babysit my terminator deepstrike along with the librarian for some psyker shenanigans. My bud plays the Wolves and I know this will frustrate his "hack amd slash" playstyle.

I do wonder about adding in Ezekiel. I admit it mostly out of just loving the interomancy discipline and for the almost comedic factor of literally messing with his head (mind wipe, aversion etc). I should probably drop him altogether and save the points. Though I did toy with the idea of an interrogator chaplain with the teeth of terra. On paper hes a friggin' buzzsaw. I just figured I had enough choppy dudes already, one more may not be worth it.

I think the redemptor seems like he'll bring a lot of pain and will likely keep him. The Dark Talon though... I can get a few more inceptors or eradicators for Azrael to play with. I dont think I can justify the cost. I figure I'll get more out of the other options.

Thanks man. I guess I have to decide if Ezekiel is cool enough and will mess with his mind enough to make it worthwhile. We are not competitive at all so its more about getting a laugh and seeing how much we can surprise the other guy. Literally how much we can f#@$ with his head : )

So, I think Dark Talon is out and probably Zeke too... maybe he's a game time decision.

Great feedback man. Thanks.

I think I wrote Captain, but its all good! Now that you bring up Chaplains, though, I think one would go better since you already have Azrael. If you are looking to charge with your Deathwing Knights out of teleport then the Captain won't do very much good. He will likely be left standing out in the open. A Chaplain, though, can help the DW Knights and himself get into melee. You need to spend some CP (and maybe points), but its an option. A Terminator Chaplain with the Canticle of Hate can drop in with the Deathwing Knights and spend 2CP to recite that Canticle to add 2 inches to charge rolls within 6" (including himself). If you upgrade him to a Master of Sanctity for some points you reduce the CP cost and can take another Litany. Anyhoo.

I take Ezekiel in most of my lists. He cannot teleport-in, but his range of powers are great as is his +1 on the cast. Having said that, a Terminator Librarian can take Interromancy powers (all Dark Angels Librarians can). The choice you have to make with each Pskyer is between Interromancy and the Space Marine ones. Ezekiel, though, doesn't have a choice. I think that a Terminator Librarian and Ezekiel can both make sense in the list. Ezekiel goes with the main force heading up the middle debuffing enemy units and leaders. The Terminator Librarian teleports in with the Deathwing Knights and casts Righteous Repugnance. Maybe the Terminator Chaplain gets them all into melee.

I will say, though, that I teleport in much less in 9th than I did in the early days of 8th. Your mileage may vary of course!

Come on over to the Dark Angels Tactics thread! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/796005.page

Thanks for the advice. I can really use it. I've been struggling with this list for a couple months. I only get to see my buddy now and the and our holiday game fell through. Now I'm back to struggling with 2 librarians or one... should one be Ezekiel.... should I do my jump pack interrogator blender instead? Heck I'm still deciding between plasma inceptors vs eradicators... dark talon vs redemptor and even tactical squad vs intercessors...

My new years resolution needs to be "be more decisive" I think.

Thanks again and I will be binging the tactics thread next!!
