I am very new to the game and am trying to put together a list but have a couple of very basic rules questions that I assume there are answers for somewhere, but I have been unable to find them.

1: Does number of weapons matter? I am clear on how Melee attacks work but am a bit unclear about multiple ranged weapons. For example Primaris Inceptors are listed as having 2 Assault Bolters (Or Plasma Exterminators) each of which is listed as Assault 3 (or D3). So does one model with 2 Assault Bolters get 3 attacks or 6?

2: If multiple ranged weapons are listed can you use more than one? The Redemptor Dreadnought has 3-4 separate weapons systems, can you shoot all of them in one turn? If yes does that mean that an Intercessor Squad within 12 of an enemy unit can fire with their rifle AND their pistol in the same shooting phase?

A model with 2x Assault Bolters shoots 6 shots.

A model can fire:

- All Heavy, Rapid Fire, Assault and Dakka weapons (last type is Orks only)

OR

- All Pistols

OR

- One Grenade (and only one model per unit, too)

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

1. 6

2. You shoot with all your ranged weapon, but if you shoot with a pistol or grenade, you cannot shoot with any other weapon (except stated in the ability rule) and vice versa

Bonus : you can shoot with a Pistol in your Shooting Phase, even when you are in Engagement Range of enemy unit
