Hi all,

I'm just getting back into 40K after a fairly hefty hiatus (think last time I played was around 5th Edition). I'm wanting to go for a Death Korps army this time purely for the look, lore, etc.

I've grabbed some models from Forgeworld, including a number of the advancing infantry. I've noticed that the model that I think is supposed to represent the sgt/watch master/whatever has a lasgun, but the impression I'm getting from reading up on current playing is that DKoK infantry squads now are supposed to have a sgt armed with pistol/sword combo and that the rules no longer support that model as is... I think I may have had my eyes on rules that are now considered old which stated that the watch master could take a lasgun as standard.

Whilst I wait for the Codex to arrive, can anyone confirm if this is the case and what people are generally doing about it? I.e. Just play as is and make assumptions (it used to be the case when I was last playing that models had to represent what was on the army list for fairness) or are people converting said models?

Cheers!

Death Korps are now an Astra Militarum regiment with a few specialist units. Their Infantry Squads are armed exactly like those for all the other AM Infantry Squads, which means no Lasguns for the Sergeant. The new plastic Death Korps Infantry Squad kit even includes the proper options for the Sergeant.

Many thanks. Added on the command bits upgrade so at least can give some models a powersword/chainsword + las pistol combo.

Slightly determined to still try and eke out a fully resin army whilst the models are still available. Shame a load of the models I remember aren't still available.
