Hey guys.

Just playing around with army builder and want to hear your thoughts..

Dreadlord on black dragon.

Sorceress

3 aetherwings
3 aetherwings

9 hydras/kharibdyss

Precisely 2000 points.

Inexperience is not a permanent condition. Stupidity is!

1) are hydras/khsrybdys behemoths?
2) what's the behemoth limit at 2k pts?

The warscroll says monster, but I'm not sure.

Other "behemoths" get restricted in the app, so I'm kind of leaning towards no....

It won't say Behemoth, or Leader/Battleline/Artillary/Unique on the warscroll.
To find those classifications you look on the back pages of your Tome where you find the pts, unit sizes, & various notes (ex: ___ becomes Battleline in a ____ force).

Sorry, I don't have the app so I have no idea where you find this info on that. But it's vital to how you build forces, so has to be in there somewhere.

They are "Single. Becomes Battleline in Anvilgard army."

So not Behemoth. And also presumably Anvilgard, otherwise you'd need Battleline for 2k.

They are behemoth(note not all behemoth are monsters and not all monsters are behemoth).

However in ghb if you are battleline you lose behemoth battlefield role. In core battleback if you are conditional battleline you lose behemoth role(wonder if gw actually intended this subtle difference that has some corner cases where armies might not be legal on one battlepack...),,

Same as why ogors can take beastriders as much as points allow with suitable general. Or unmounted terrorgheits in fec

In app the battlefield role(behemoth, leader etc) is top left of warscroll, single, unique, battleline (if x) are at bottom. Points also so in app all needed is in warscroll actually. The app is actually quite decent these days.

So... this is a legal, viable army??

I mean, I'm not about to go out and buy 9 hydras, it just boggles the mind a bit that this is possible.

Legal assuming you're specifically Anvilgard subfaction of Cities of Sigmar. Not sure about viable? Depends on what that means.

You can also run a bunch of steamtanks as your entire army, or Stormcast Dragonriders. Ogors, as tneva said, can run entire armies of beastriders. It's pretty common to have monster armies in AoS.

Also, thanks Tneva, for pointing out in the app that Pitched Battle Notes doesn't give the full amount of info the "same" section would in the pitched battle booklet, and that they've for some reason put the Behemoth/Battleline/Leader etc designation elsewhere. Confused me, apologies for the misinformation earlier.

Completely legal. Not sure about how good it is. Seeing hydras aren't common odds are not very unless there's some weird effect that comes with spamming them though.

10 monsters's Isn"t nothing though. Punch can be bit of issue. With low rends, 4+ to hit, only some attacks with damage better than 1 and that degrades looks bit weak on punch(of course just 170pts...).

Otoh you can hold objectives surprisingly well likely and combo charging several to 1 unit can mess(they cant focus on 1 so damage spreads keeping them alive longer maximizing regeneration).

Money is big issue i would love 9 steam tank army but that's a lot of cash for niche army. Unless you also want tons of corsairs and chariots expensive army.
