Hello there,
I'm making an imperial guard tournament list and I've ran into an issue. I'm going for a spearhead with lots of Leman Russes and two tank commanders.
What I want to do is give both of them the steel commander tank ace trait as it will allow them to both order themselves and another Russ nearby. Rerolling ones is pretty good in my book.
I know you can't take the same warlord trait twice, but I'm not sure this also applies to tank ace traits. Battlescribe doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
What do you guys think? Legal move?

Yes. You can choose two Tank Aces if you forgo choosing a Warlord Trait to get the first, then spend 1CP on Strategem for the second. Nothing says they can't be the same one.

Is tank ace a set of warlord traits that you use in place/ if your warlord is a tank commander?

It's an ability you can take instead of a Warlord Trait and/or as a 1CP Stratagem (from Psychic Awakening: The Greater Good).

Yeah I just dug through some of those rules you can make one of your tank commanders a warlord and you may take a tank ace trait instead of a warlord trait. You can then spend 1 cp to make a non warlord tank commander a tank ace.

You can also choose, say, a random Platoon Commander to be your warlord, then give up his Warlord Trait to give a Tank Ace and then pick a totally different tank to be a Tank Ace too.
They don't even have to be tank commanders, though obviously TCs benefit the most.
