I distinctly remember the answer being no, but another player says im wrong. I thought stretching like that only worked for the bodyguard rule but Auras only came from the base of the model projecting it, but I can't seem to find an answer... im not sure why it bothered him so much, because my way was to his favor, but he definitely seemed upset by it.
Thanks in advance.

I would imagine it depends on how it's worded. If the Unit has the aura or if the Model has the aura. But you may want to try the You Make Da Call forum.

It depends on the exact wording 6 the aura ability if its "the bearer" or " this model " or similar then its non transitive, but a wording of "this unit" is

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
