Thought i'd throw together my list which i think will be my standard 2k army for 9th.

I always place limits on myself when making my armies and in this case it is that i want to include lots of different Aspect Warrior units but with no more than 1 from each Aspect. The list makes use of all but the Crimson Hunter and Shadow Spectres.

I plan to make use of the following stratagems:

NOTE: The list as written assumes that my opponent is happy for me to ignore Games Workshop's frustrating equipment rules limiting units to only choosing those options which come as standard in their boxed kit rather than those they have traditionally had access to. If i was playing in a less casual environment (unlikely for me) i would swap the Autarch's Howling Banshee Mask and the Shining Spear Exarch's Shimmershield for 2x Death Spinners+Powerblades for the Warp Spiders.


The plan is to deploy the Webway Gate, 3x Rangers Squads, Avatar of Khaine and Shining Spears.

If the Webway Gate is in a position i am satisfied with i'll leave it where it is, if not i will use Phantasm to redeploy it to a position that may allow the deploying units a greater advantage and more board coverage for potential charges.

Generally in my first turn i will only have the Webway gate and 3x Ranger units on the table, I acknowledge i will be surrendering the advantage to my opponent at the start of the game but im happy to do this in exchange for a powerful Beta Strike, keeping my key units intact. Plus i really enjoyed the way this operated on the tabletop and i don't plan to play in any super competitive environment. If it costs me the game then so be it.

Turn 2 will see the Swooping Hawks, Warp Spiders and 2x Falcons (containing the Howling Banshees/Striking Scorpions/Fire Dragons/Dark Reapers, whatever works depending on the respective battle) arriving via Sudden Assault and the rest of the army entering via Strategic Reserves through the Webway Gate/Table edge.

On a Strike Force sized table i would expect The Avatar to pull off a charge on the turn he arrives through the Webway gate or along the table edges (whichever would be more strategically advantageous) assisted with a combination of Strands of Fate/Ghostwalk . If units are in the way of a prime target i would do my best to clear a path for him in the shooting phase and eliminate any Overwatch concerns with the Swooping Hawks/Howling Banshee Masks.

I have only used the army once so far (vs Chaos Knights) where it seemed to perform well (at least against that one particular army). The Avatar managed to charge the enemy Warlord (Chaos Knight) when he arrived through the Webway Gate and proceeded to cause a whopping 34 wounds while the rest of the army destroyed or crippled about half of the accompanying mini-titans which made up the rest of the army.

I feel like i can lean heavily into my Aspect Warrior army with this new book, im looking forward to playing more games with it.
