I don’t own a 3D printer, nor do I have the desire to buy one, room to house one or patience to learn to use one well. But more and more I see stl’s of models I’d like which aren’t available as a physical product.

I’ve looked for companies to print stuff for me, but it all seems to be on an industrial scale, and getting a mini done is a hassle / really expensive.

So why aren’t there companies offering this service, or are their and my Google fu is just lacking?

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

I know of a few decent places in the USA with prices i'd be ok with

but the only one I know of in the UK is

https://www.mrleesminis.com/3d-printing

who seem to be producing decent quality prints (and have licences to print for several STL ranges) but are priced more than i'd want to pay

(still worth a look though especially if you've bunch to do where postage isn't going to bump things up like it does for me considering the odd mini or two)

I see plenty of places that offer STL files as a product, but not the actual printing service. Please point me in the direction of any thread to the contrary.

If you have the STL, anyone with a printer can print it for you for a charge - they just cannot resell the piece en masse. Try finding a local fellow with a resin printer, as I am sure there are some close to you that will print it cheaply. I have done it a number of times for people that contacted me on Dakka.
