Wherever I go, there I am.

or shall I....

busted out the ol minis a couple years ago and started painting away. Continuing my Y2K Dark Elves WHFB (not enough for an army... actually I got the army book right here... ah, maybe I'll add up the points later, just give everyone all the options). I sold all my Eldar with modular weapons systems (NOT magnetic, actually used hollow square rods of slightly different diameters). I did have a pack of 40k "Wytches" from that same era, they're primed for painting.

Got WAY too many unprimed confrontation minis... what a sweet game that was though, loved it... I feel like my painting skill is unworthy of doing any more of those guys (than the handful I did when playing years ago), at this time.

Started buying some bones minis for painting fun... this really all started... it was a family members idea to break these out... and he got 3 generations involved, still, two years later, even branching out to the Tamiya dinosaur line, which are pretty fun... but like a different kind of plastic mb, IDK?

I super loved the pop top TALL citadel pots from sometime in the 90's I guess. Still have 2 usable of those... can you believe it? They're colored metallics (the green and the blue). Have some of the squat fat hex turn tops and pop/turn tops too. Though mostly NOT the metallics... so when I broke out the paints like a said, I had quite the assortment. With no medium and no robart paint shaker at the time (if you don't have one of these you're my hero, but I'm never going back) I started to try to rehab a lot of these guys, including some vallejos, and a couple p3 the Cryx guys I think will scare the little ones though, so not busting them out yet... and anyway, I checked on them the other way and the Model Masters Glossy Black Enamel spray Primer I used back then is starting to chip off... ugh...

Okay, as you guys can see I'm mostly concerned with painting atm...

the short of it is I didn't have the stuff (medium) tools (balls and shakers (wow, what an awesome phrase)), so water and mixing with tooth pick, then shaking didn't work on a lot of these guys b/c they were like a thick paste at the bottom (mostly the citadel squat pot screw ons), so I chucked a bunch... checked with my nephew who's podiuming in painting competitions with some 40k sea creatures or something he's a pretty darn good airbrusher the last many years, but still didn't have the stuff I needed... chucked s'more... now I finally have all the goods that -might- have resurrected a few more of those pots... oh well... so now I've got a lot of army painter stuff in there b/c with wanky (not a typo) supply chain blah blah wankfest they basically couldn't get anything else at my F/LGSTQQI (too much?). Got some more p3s and the new citadel contrast, base, layer, matt v, lahmia love (love her stuff, or is that plural?), etc. tons of vallejo mediums too, almost all the citadel white top hex-screw INKS! Did NOT dry out! But now that I'm using them again the old crusty stuff is -keeping- them from sealing where before it did its job unimaginably well. I don't think any other product comes closer to being an INK than that stuff (in the minis world). Wow, beautiful.

I'm also painting that Ral Partha (yes, original... omg my beard hair is graying...) Xeno-dragon or whatever its called... you know the one with spider eyes on a vaguely XENOMORPH shaped head?

I enjoy painting animals, i.e. cavalry mounts, but find that all my 4 mixtures of browns, plus washes and candys etc. etc. just look like nothing from 2 feet away... I kept looking for tutorials on making browns NOT suck on minis, and finally on privateer press's tube channel they have like 3 vids on various techniques (I have watched at least 3 other vids on this but they were from youtubers just starting out I guess they didn't understanding lighting and/ focus well enough, yes... all three, so I didn't really get anything out of that hour of my life... but to hope those guys do better next time, because a couple of them seemed like they might be decent at the whole thing if only...) (I do go on...), watched one with 3 color wet blending (to make a gradient on fur in the mid tone layer) and that was immediately fun and saw results, not quite as too-subtle as my normal work on fur... anyway... can I shut up already? I need to find my favorite button the search button and look for good grey/gray washes!

Peace and love and the wisdom is within you, not in cutting off your chainsword (which is of course a euphemism for your personality-- duh, it's antiquated, but c'mon, what forum is this).

Upon reflection, the skyscape looked almost as beautiful with ripples running through it.

Welcome, sounds like some interesting projects, I especially like the modular idea.

I look forward to seeing pics!
