Badab.

Badab Badab Badab!

Seriously though someone brought up Badab in another thread and then someone else said they thought Badab War was best war and well... Here we are. Let's chat about your favorite things about Badab. Favorite characters, Chapters, least favorite, whatever you want to talk about. Someone was talking about their Badab-based P-Marines, let's hear about some of that sort of stuff.

And dare I say, some pics of cool Badab War stuff?

I'll go first because I know people kept reading past that awful cross media joke. I'm a Lamenters guy. One just has to feel for them, ya know? They are the only thing close to a good guy in the entire setting, and they just get roflstomped for it. Yet somehow they're still around. They even got some Primaris, as far as I can tell. Of course that will probably backfire on them somehow, but hey - they'll survive that too because the galaxy needs an Abel to take out behind the woodshed and beat to death. I will admit, my own collection is not grand. I got my HQ + Troops, and a Stormraven. Been working on a Dread for awhile now, but he got put on the back burner. I had a handful of Scouts but I decided I wanted a more thematic post-Badab list so I recently nixed them. I have some other stuff I could add, but I want to keep that Crusade Penitent theme so it's been a chore trying to figure it out. Plus I want to minimize the amount of hand painted Chapter badges I have to do so...

Anyway, that's my blurb about the Badab War. Maybe if I can get some decent pics I'll share my doods, in the meantime; Badab War, let's rap.

I really like the Badab War. It's a contained civil war that has good guys and bad guys on both sides, and it was entirely avoidable if either side was willing to compromise a little. But that's not how diplomacy in 40k works.

I managed to pick up both of the Badab books, slightly used and slightly overpriced from a local game shop, which was fantastic.

I've been working on a Badab project, using either Squadhammer or Squadhammer Core from Nordic Weasel Games. I wrote up a decent Space Marine list for Squadhammer, but it's not necessary in the rules-light Core version.

I've been painting Astral Claws (Tyrant's Legion decals, since I couldn't find the original Astral Claws decals when I started), and a friend was painting Carcharodons. I've been reaching out to others to potentially get into it.

Here's my painted force so far:

I've got some more Tacticals, Terminators, and Bikes to paint as well.

The Marines Errant are amazing and fulfill a niche that hasn't really been done by Marines in lore before.

Those Astrals Claws are very sharp, lol. No pun intended.

My favorite part of the Badab War has always been the Carcharodon's unexpected and incredibly violent entry into the conflict when they looked at the Endymion Cluster, realized the Mantis Warriors were too nice for their own good, and proceeded to commit genocide against the worlds under their care to draw them out into the open and break them utterly. Then the Sharks went back after the war, stole the loose change out of the Mantis Warriors' couch, and took all the kids of marine recruitment age as one last f you before blasting off to Emperor knows where.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, if you read the second Space Sharks book by Robbie MacNiven the Inquisitor doing the debrief in the epilogue is the same Inquisitor who had co-command of the Badab War alongside Culn.

Yeah Carcharodons are pretty awesome. Always liked that Tyberos model FW had. Maybe one day I'll do some Space Sharks, probably in tiny scale though. I have plenty of the big toys by now, lol.
