Just saw a new bat rep from an established channel that makes lots of them, and the necron Player had a cryptek use his RoR to bring back a dead menhir.

Is this allowed now? Has it always been possible?

Yes, because the silent king is now CORE, says the new balance dataslate. And rites of reanimation say you can reanimate a dead model from a CORE unit. All necron vehicles are now CORE. I dont expect this change to last, because its utterly stupid. I expect titanic units and the silent king to be excluded from this change.

Rites of Reanimation: In your Command phase, you can select one friendly <DYNASTY> CORE unit within 6" of this model. One destroyed model from that unit is Reanimated. If the selected unit is a NECRON WARRIORS unit, D3 destroyed models from that unit are Reanimated instead. Each unit can only be selected for this ability once per phase.

GW once again changes rules without thinking about the consequences. They see necrons need help, and after drinking the 10th beer in the pub the rules team decided to give all necron VEHICLE core. Thats how they write their rules.

So Necron Vehicles are Core and can therefore be the target of Rites of Reanimation, if the unit contains more than one model. Outside of the Silent King, that applies to which units exactly?

Its not just rites of reanimation, CORE brings a lot of more interactions. Illuminor szeras can now enhance monolith or the silent king with his mechanical augmentation. He can even do that to the gauss pylon, or seraptek heavy construct. The silent king can get a BS of 1+, and he can MWBD himself for a +1 to hit. Monolith now benefit from hypermaterial ablator, the silent king can be teleported with the veil of darkness T1. There is even more. Im pretty sure it wont take long for tournament players to find the OP combo.

Well, if this is the case then it will become SOP to glue a technomancer to TSK every time it's put on the table.

Oddly enough the dias of dominion has a 'built in' technomancer so you'd think it would have RoR abilities. But that would make it practically immortal. I guess if you had to rationalize the lack of RoR, you could claim it takes the technomancer's full attention to keep the dias running at all due to the complexity and power levels it operates at, plus keeping the c'tan from getting uppity.

The mancer might have a special sub routine that lets him fire his staff without taking attention away from keeping the djas running.
