So, I'm trying to crunch through all the new rules and I noticed my boy Curze doesn't appear to have a Jump Pack in the literal sense, but can function similarly (gotta go fast). But I'm unsure if he can join a unit of say Assault Marines and use his Mantle to move with them fast.
The Jump Pack rules in the book seem to indicate yes (more specific rule) while the new rulebook makes it sound like the whole unit has to have them (less specific). Do we go with the more specific rule here?

His Bat-wings dude!
But honestly this is a good question, I'm not sure.

Nightmare Mantle specifically. He ignores all movement modifiers, auto passes Dangerous Terrain checks, automatically adds 12" to his move. It's basically a jump pack, but isn't called that.
Which if I'm wanting to run him with Raptors or Assault Marines, could impact their movement rules based on the wording in the new rulebook (pg163) vs the Warhawk Jump Pack rules in the Astartes book(pg145).

Ya I see what you mean, main rulebook states units comprised entirely of Jump Packs may...
That's a tough one. I would think it would be fine if they could just keep unit coherency but maybe it's different now.

There you have your answer. Seems that Curze will have to ride with terminators inside a spartan during HH 2.0.

Is there a way you could join Curze to an outrider squad?
Not a vehicle squadron but not technically an infantry squad either.

Hmm. On pg154, it says the "advanced" rules take precedence over "basic" rules.
So it seems like the Warhawk Jump Pack rules override the basic rule by stating each model can activate their pack vs whole unit.
I'll probably email this to GW because it's just ambiguous enough to be annoying.

More specific rules always supercede broader rules. That's how 40k (and subsequently 30k) has worked since at least 3rd edition. Given the Warhawk entry covers every single point of the generic Jump Pack entry, keeping much of it the same, but altering a few key features (such as the per-model basis for activation, and the ability to use it to Run), it supercedes all of the Jump Pack rules found in the BRB.
