Brought it up in the combi-bolter thread but it wasn't really helpful for that discussion.

Until we get an FAQ, how are you all treating the legion special bolters and bayonetts?

Our group can see a RAI and RAW argument for either way, but we've decided that bayonetts on special bolters makes the game more enjoyable so we are running it that way for now.

If the unit has the option to upgrade the weapon then it can take the upgrade.

I would say RAI are that the bayonets can go on any bolter that can take them.
