So if i have shadowsun as supreme command detachment in a army where i choose a differrent sept, lets say dalyth, then would Shadowsun, who is a tau sept keyword for faction get tau sept tenets?

"If your army is Battle-forged, <SEPT> units in T’AU EMPIRE Detachments gain access to the following sept rules, provided every <SEPT> unit (excluding SUPREME COMMANDER units) in your army is from the same sept. If every <SEPT> unit in a T’AU EMPIRE Detachment is from the same sept, that Detachment is referred to as a Sept Detachment."

So the first sentence talks about the whole army being a part of the same <sept> except supreme detachments. Then in the second sentence it states if everything in the DETACHMENT is from the same sept they count as a sept detachment. But after the comma in the first sentance its written as "<SEPT> units in T’AU EMPIRE Detachments gain access to the following sept rules", which would allow shadow sun who is in a tau sept detachment to benefit from tau sept tenets.

Am i interpretting this correctly?

Pretty much. They don't put in an exception preventing the SUPREME COMMANDER from gaining Sept Tenets if their <Sept> does not match that of the rest of the army. It may be an oversight on their part, but it is what the rules say.
