I am the guy who interprets all the rules and tries to explain to my friend (try do it right but I know I make mistakes...but we play on and check after).

A few things from last night-

1- Can an Eldar Autarch with Jetpack 'jump' (move) 12 inches out of combat, away from the enemy? I beleive so, its his normal move isnt it?

2- Space Wolves Intercessors in Melee. I was a little baffled. They have A x 2. So 2 attacks. What do they hit with? couldnt see any melee weapon, do they just use the Pistols they have? If they charge, they get a 3rd attack each do to the (forge the name) Hunters or something?

3- Space Wolf Intecerros firing Bolt guns. Did I do this right-

Bolt Gun, 1 attack. They have Rapid Fire 1, and were within half range, so they had 2 attacks. They have Bolter Discipline, so they get another shot...total 3 shots each? Couldnt work it out...why so complex...grrr..

So, I think you were incorrect on all counts.

#1 - You can move 12" with an Autarch when they have a Jetpack, but when you move from within 1" of enemy models like this, you are making a Fall Back move. This is NOT a "Normal Move", but a Fall Back move. Fall Back moves do not normally allow you to shoot and/or charge and/or perform actions and/or cast psychic powers after having done this move, but are otherwise unhindered. Plus, Eldar have a lot of special rules and wargear and relics and strats that may allow you to still do somethings after performing this Fall Back move. But is it his "Normal Move"? No. Does he still get the full 12 inches? Yes.

#2 - If a unit does not have a listed close combat weapon, it makes an attack with something called a "close combat weapon", which has the following profile:
Range: Melee
Type: Melee
S: User
AP: 0
D: 1

You can find the rules for this in the Core Rules in the section about the Fight Phase under "Select Weapon".

As for number of attacks, they have 2 Attacks in their profile, but the ability "Shock Assault" means that when they charge, they get +1 Attacks. This means they get 3 attacks. They may have numerous other abilities, depending on the list, that could cause extra attacks, or cause extra hits, or more.

#3 - No. Rapid Fire 1 means you get 1 shot, but you double that number if you are within half range. Bolter Discipline changes that context a bit, by letting you INSTEAD get double shots for being at least ONE of the following;
- Being within half range of the target.
- Not having moved during the Movement Phase.
- Being a Terminator/Biker.

So, Rapid Fire 1 with any of these in effect would double the number of shots. This means making 2 attack rolls (double of 1 is 2). There is no +1 shot for also being within half range or anything, since Bolter Discipline replaces the normal rule of "be in half range" with its own set of conditions - rather than supplementing the rule of half range.

Thank you. All clear...with maybe a query over Rapid Fire/Bolter Discipline.

So do I read that right...The SW's Intercessors get 2 shots when within half range thanks to the Rapid Fire. They dont get any more for Bolter Disc. They would just get 2 shots if they hadnt moved, be in half range (or a biker/Term)?

Thanks again.

It feels very complex when its new.

You got it. Bolter displine replaces the normal rules for rapid fire, but one of those methods of getting the bonus through bolter discipline is the same method as normal, so it doesn’t feel special at all in those cases.

Exactly. It doesn't change the benefit of 'rapid firing', it just expands the situations in which you get to do it.
