What’s the current opinion on Shroud Runners? I got a gift from a friend but I’m not sure what to do with just one unit of them. I am painting up an Aspect heavy army and they’re competing for some select slots.

This line of reasoning broke 7th edition in Fantasy. The books should be as equal as possible, even a theoretical "Codex: Squirrels with Crustacean allies" should have a fair chance to beat "Codex: God".

I like the models, but their behavior (on paper) seems a bit confused. Their weapons are well-suited to staying far away from the enemy and putting out some decent firepower, but their special rules (including their spotter stratagem) makes them want to get close. They can get a 2+ save if they stand in cover, but battlefocus means they might prefer to stay out of terrain entirely so they can hide *behind* BLOS terrain instead of *inside* terrain.

Their BS and raw number of shots makes me think they're probably fine for their points, and there's an upside to being both in and out of cover, close and far. So they're probably flexible and solid on the whole, but you'll always feel like you're playing against one strength in order to play into another.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

I like them. Currently waiting on a game to get them tested.
On paper they look great and I hope they can provide something useful.
