on the boardgamegeek site there is a feature where you can log your play for each game. A friend of mine is keeping track of all logged plays for all minis games and publish them every month. I compile all his data each year and make a list with the overall rankings of the minis games each year. 2 caveats:
- the sample size is limited to bgg users that log their plays
- the definition of what is/what isn't a minis game is quite lax. My friend's definition is more liberal so a lot of games that might be considered hybrids are included on the list.

Still, I think is an interesting glimpse on what is popular on the miniatures games's market.
